Samsung digs into Apple at airport wall outlets

This week we’re seeing Samsung extend their "wall huggers" campaign for those smartphone users who hang out around power plugs with some "wall hugger" advertisements. You may see these little signs appearing near or directly around wall outlets in airpots, showing consumers what they’re missing, so to speak.

Below you’ll see the advertisement spot that started this campaign. Digging in on iPhone users specifically, Samsung suggested that an extra battery and a power saving mode inside the Samsung Galaxy S5’s software made for a far better device than the Apple-made smartphone line.

Here we’re seeing the extension. Below you’ll find several photos taken by Samsung of their wall decals as they appear in a number of airports across the United States. These signs are ready to let those sitting at said plug stations know what they’re up against.

They’re letting Apple know what they’re up against, that is to say. Apple’s next-generation advertising is tipped to roll with an in-house crew rather than the same agency Samsung currently uses. Perhaps for the best.

Samsung Smart Bike packs an Arduino and frickin’ laser beams

Merely having a smartphone mount on the handlebars doesn’t make a normal bike smart. That requires a lot of additional design, engineering, and even more tech — including cameras and laser beams. Samsung’s been working on a concept bike in conjunction with Maestros Academy.

Samsung co-founded the academy earlier this year with designer Leo Burnett’s Milan office, with the goal of “preserving Italian craftsmanship in the digital age.” For the smart bike in particular, the design team wanted to help reduce the number of cyclists involved in accidents each year — preserving actual Italians, as it were. Front and center (literally) on the bike is a magnetic smartphone mount. Slap on your Galaxy phone and fire up the app to control the bike’s systems. There’s onboard LED lighting for nighttime riding and a rearview camera so you can safely keep tabs on traffic as it approaches from behind — video is streamed to your bike-mounted phone. And then there’s the four bike-mounted lasers.

The lasers on Samsung’s bike aren’t designed to take out incoming foes riding inflatable watercraft, obviously. They’re part of the bike’s safety system. Fire them up, and a virtual bike lane gets projected onto the roadway to make sure motorists give you enough room to ride. The smart bike can even turn on the lane markers automatically when your phone’s ambient light sensor indicates that it’s getting dark.

How does the bike communicate with your phone? It’s hiding the maker’s secret weapon, an Arduino, which gets paired via Bluetooth. The Samsung app also does the typical social fitness stuff. You can track your rides and share them with other smart bike users, see where other people are riding, and even keep tabs on how many people are riding the same path as you in real time.

Is Samsung going to sell the smart bike? Probably not, but who knows? This is a company that makes everything from washing machines to excavators. But even if Samsung doesn’t make one, perhaps another company will borrow the Arduino-powered design and link up with the Samsung app — or maybe they’ll open-source the design and we can build our own!

Apple rumor suggests chip production pulled from Samsung

A new Apple rumor is floating around today that could affect Samsung. This new rumor claims that Apple is set to take the chip production that Samsung currently operates and move it to another provider. Apple pulled some chip production from Samsung back in 2012 and sent Samsung stock prices plummeting.

In 2012, Apple placed chip orders with Elpida rather than Samsung and Samsung lost $10 billion off its market value. The new rumor suggests that Apple will be moving the production of its A series processors away from Samsung and start production up with TSMC.

The reason is said to be some concerns over low yields with Samsung's 20nm process for the next generation A8 processor. TSMC has had success with its 20nm process being described as smoother than expected.

The move will certainly hurt Samsung, whether or not it will have the same effect on market value as we saw back in 2012 remains to be seen. I continue to be surprised Apple uses Samsung since the two are bitter rivals on the electronics market and are seemingly constantly fighting in court. This rumor reportedly comes from the supply chain and is unconfirmed at this time.

Samsung Galaxy S5 tipped to debut February 23

Following on the heels of yesterday's fingerprint scanner leak, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has found itself in the news again, this time with alleged debut and launch dates. Mobile Review's Eldar Murtazin, who correctly stated when the S4 would arrive, said in a tweet today that Samsung will be showing the smartphone off in Barcelona on February 23 on the cusp of Mobile World Congress.

Following the Galaxy S5's debut in February, Murtazin says the smartphone will then be launched sometime in the end of April, though he didn't peg a specific date for the availability. As far as specifications go, he merely said, "u know them :)", giving a nod towards the numerous sources and rumors that have cropped up about the handset in recent times. Aside from that, he tacked on to the end of the tweet, "new touchwiz ;)".

According to the report that surfaced yesterday, Samsung decided not to go with an iris scanner for the flagship smartphone, the reasons being some issues it would present, such as unlocking the phone in the dark. Instead, the maker is said to be focusing its attention on fingerprint scanning technologies, and that the module for this biometric security could be embedded under the display, allowing for one to unlock the device by touching the screen.

Beyond that, it seems the Galaxy S5 could bring with it a "2K display" in the 5-inch range, which could bring with it 560 or more pixels per inch. Also tipped in recent times is the use of ISOCELL camera technology, which would bring a high-quality camera along with the new smartphone. Other rumors include a focus on eye-tracking capabilities, which would serve to bolster facial recognition and similar technologies.

Galaxy Note 3 KitKat rollout starts, Poland gets it first

If you are the owner of a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet, a new update is beginning to roll out for the Android operating system. The update brings the Note 3 to Android KitKat. The rollout is not happening everywhere at once though.

The first country to get the Android KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3 is Poland. The update is available for the Polish owners via the Samsung Kies update software. The KitKat update also has another caveat in Poland, it’s only for the Snapdragon 800 powered version.

Other than the US and apparently Poland, the international version of the phone uses Samsung's Exynos processor. Since the Polish version of the Note 3 is virtually identical to the one here in the US, perhaps the US will be the next location to get the update.

If you are unfamiliar with the Galaxy Note 3, you can check out our review of the Galaxy Note 3 smartphone for all the details. The smartphone has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 and 386 ppi. The Note 3 also features the S Pen for writing on the screen.

Galaxy Note 3 mini (or Neo) brings line back a couple steps

A device with the (code) name Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo has appeared this week with specifications and a look that suggest Samsung is going back to basics. It’s like a combination of the Galaxy Note 3’s pen and back panel and he rest coming from the original Galaxy Note - even the camera and the LED flash are in the same place. Inspect these leaked images while you can.

You’ll find this device appearing through a leaked set of images from SamMobile where they suggest this device may be revealed in full at Mobile World Congress 2014. We’re not even a day out of CES 2014 and it’s time to move on, it would seem.

This device is tipped as working with a 5.55-inch display with Super AMOLED technology and 1280 x 720 pixels across it. That’s 265PPI, if you’re counting, and it’s attached to an 8-megapixel camera as well. Supposing you’ve not already agreed that this machine is made up of the parts of the original Galaxy Note, you’ll love it when it’s revealed that you’ve got a 3100mAh battery and what’s likely to be some sort of Qualcomm Snapdragon processor due to its ability to roll with 4G LTE.

Inside you can work with a microSD for memory expansion, or you can stick with this machine’s 16GB of internal storage right out of the box. It’s got four CPU cores and a couple of GPU cores at least. THere’s NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and an IR-blaster in this machine as well - and USB 3.0 for good measure.

UPDATE: It would now appear that we’re actually working with the Samsung-made Exynos 5260 hexa-core processor in this device. That means “Heterogeneous Multi-Processing”, or HMP, which also means the ability to roll with 6 cores at once. Strange stuff indeed.

Samsung Galaxy S 5 tipped (by Samsung) to arrive at MWC 2014

In just a few weeks, it would seem, the next-generation Samsung Galaxy S 5 will appear to the world in a public announcement at Mobile World Congress 2014. This sort of announcement was commonplace for Samsung a few years ago - back when the Samsung Galaxy S, then the Samsung Galaxy S II, knocked out their own MWC-based announcements. Since then the company has taken to their own unique event releases.

As Samsung has only released very, very few devices on the large tech convention circuit over the past couple years, an announcement at the Barcelona-based event would be odd indeed. Word of this announcement's possibility comes from South Korea publication inews24 who say they've spoken with Samsung design director Dong-hoon Chang.

It's Chang, they say, that suggests that the next Samsung hero phone will appear at MWC with code-name "Milky Way Galaxy S5". That'd be some interesting flare to add to the series as well, to be sure.

We've also seen some rather wild-looking visions of what this device could be delivered as in pre-production drawings from Samsung itself earlier this week. What it would appear to be bringing is a device not all that different in size from the Samsung Galaxy S 4, but with a bit of curved glass up front and along the back.

It's likely the Samsung Galaxy S 5, whatever package it arrives in, will not be working with a curved display - only curved glass, if any curves are to be included at all. Meanwhile rumors of metals and plastics included in two separate versions of the handset also persist - keep tuned as we head to CES 2014 first, starting this weekend!

Apple vs Samsung patent talks to resume

Amid years of court battles, the likes of which have been public in a big way, Apple and Samsung have apparently agreed to begin talks of patent agreements. This chat would be a continuation of agreements made on patents on both sides of the rail, suggesting both companies would like to settle their massive sets of matters out of court. This could be the end of the epic years-long battle between the companies on mobile matters worldwide.

Speaking with the Korea Times, an “official at the FTC” has let it be known that Apple and Samsung have begun “working-level discussions” aimed at signing “a potential deal”. At the moment, he or she suggested, “they are in the process of narrowing differences over royalty payments.”

A Samsung source has gone so far as to suggest that the respective CEOs of both companies could meat to hash out matters quickly. This would be a one-on-one meeting between Shin Jong-kyun, CEO of Samsung, and Tim Cook, CEO of Apple. At the moment the companies are at a point where they’ve made an agreement with U.S. federal judge Lucy H. Koh to come to a settlement as of January 8th. So they’ve got precious time between here and then, needless to say.

The Korea Times says that the situation between the two has been described as “not desperate”, while they say that this same Samsung source says Apple is still asking “too much” when they’ve asked for $30 per device for the company’s patent violations.

The FTC official speaking this week pushed the idea that “this is all about money and pride.” He went on to say that “this is not a political issue,” continuing:

”That’s why U.S. President Barack Obama vetoed a ruling by the U.S. International Trade Commission that had decided to place a complete ban on certain Apple products in the U.S. If Obama lets the USITC’s decision take effect, then concerns will be raised that the U.S. government cares too much about Samsung-owned patents” - FTC representative

This legal battle has been going on in many forms since all the way back in 2011. Judge Lucy Koh has been presiding over one case in the USA for this whole time, while a variety of cases have gone down around the world.

Samsung 110S9 110-inch UHD TV aims at ultra high-end TV market

Samsung has TV that fit into just about ever niche on the TV market. The company makes cheap TVs that have small screens catering to people on a budget along with medium and large size conventional sets. Samsung also has a line of massive TVs aimed at the ultra high-end segment of the TV market where you have to be rich to play.

TVs in this segment can cost tens of thousands of dollars. Some of the really big TVs like the Samsung 110S9 you see here can cost well over $100,000. This TV is tipped to sell for around $152,000. It's a gigantic set with a 4K Ultra HD resolution packing in 8 million pixels.

The TV has lots of Samsung tech inside to make the picture as high quality as possible. Samsung isn’t offering a lot of details on the massive 110-inch TV, but it will be on display at CES 2014 kicking off early next month.

The TV is built when ordered and will be available in China and the Middle East to start with availability in other countries later. As expensive as the TV is, Samsung says that it has already received "strong interest" in the massive set from its VVIP global customers.

Apple motion seeks to renew bid to ban some Samsung products in US

Apple filed a motion this week that seeks to renew the tech giants attempt to win a sales ban on certain Samsung products in the US. Apple wants to stop the sales of certain Samsung products in the US that were found to infringe on Apple patents for utility and design. These patents were at the heart of the Apple vs. Samsung trial back in 2012.

In November of this year, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ordered Judge Lucy Koh to look at the case again as far as how it pertains to the three utility patents at its heart. Those patents have to do with rubber-banding, tap-to-zoom, and pinch-to-zoom UI functions. The appeals court did reaffirm the denial of an injunction against the Samsung products on the basis of design patents.

Apple filed a motion to renew its bid to have the violating Samsung products banned as soon as the verdict was handed down. The products that the sales ban has to do with have been on the market for almost two years and are no longer big money makers for Samsung.

One of the patents at the core of this case, called the Apple '915 patent, covering pinch-to-zoom has had doubt cast on its validity. A Patent and Trademark Office examiner found the claims of the patent invalid in November. As a result, Apple field a notice of appeal with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board this week in response. Apple wants the court to renew the sales injunction proceedings as soon as January 30.

Samsung “Galaxy Band” fitness tracker rumored to debut Feb. 2014

Samsung may be developing a new wearable fitness tracker. The so-called "Galaxy Band" would likely be an update to the seemingly discontinued S-Band, the screen-less, wrist-mounted tracker for pairing with a Galaxy S 4. The Galaxy Band would add a screen along with an array of other fitness- and health-oriented tracking features.

The rumor dropped last week on Korea's Digital News Daily. Anonymous sources told the publication the Galaxy Band will be oriented towards health care. Digital Trends suggests this could indicate a fuller integration with S Health, an app made for the S 4.

The Galaxy Band would likely run on Android. Like the S-Band (see hero image above), it would use a standard motion tracking sensor array for tracking steps, pace, and so on. It would compute calories, atmospheric conditions, and location via GPS. It would connect to a mobile device -- either just Samsung products or all Android-depended products -- via low-power Bluetooth. Finally, the DDN report says it could feature voice activation and controls.

The device, if DDN's anonymous sources are correct, will likely be revealed at Mobile World Congress Feb. 24-27, 2014 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain. We'll be keeping an eye on this. Tune in to our wearables portal for updates.

Samsung KNOX flaw leaves Galaxy S 4 compromised say researchers

Samsung's KNOX security system on the Galaxy S 4 has a significant security hole that could allow data believed secure to be intercepted, including messages, browser use, and files transferred, researchers claim, though the South Korean company denies the seriousness of the supposed flaw. KNOX, which Samsung launched at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, is the company's attempt to take on BlackBerry in the enterprise, creating secure partitions on the phone for business and personal use. However, researchers at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev claim to have discovered a flaw in KNOX that allows data to be easily intercepted, despite supposedly being protected by the system.

According to the university, the issue was inadvertently spotted by Ph.D. student Mordechai Guri while doing other testing on the Galaxy S 4. He found that by loading a special, compromised app on the non-secure, "personal" part of the Android smartphone, all of the data transferred by the handset - including what was used by the "secure" part - could be monitored.

Alternatively, the app - which could be disguised as a game or other simple application - could even surreptitiously inject its own code into the secure data transfer, the researchers say.

According to Guri, the fault has been replicated on several Galaxy S 4 handsets purchased through retail stores. KNOX can be downloaded to the phone, having been released earlier this year; the system is preloaded on the Galaxy Note 3. Although it carries no cost for users to download, corporations must pay a licensing fee for the various server-side components to the system.

Meanwhile, Samsung maintains that its preliminary inquiries suggest the issue is not as serious as the university researchers claim. Although conceding that a loophole exists, in a comment to the WSJ, a Samsung spokesperson argued that the original testing looked to have been done on a device not equipped with the typical security measures.

A typical enterprise user would have other software on the Galaxy S 4 which the lab team did not load, Samsung claimed, and with that in place "the core Knox architecture cannot be compromised or infiltrated by such malware" the spokesperson concluded.

Around 500 Galaxy S 4 handsets have been bought by the Defense Information Systems Agency and are undergoing testing, in collaboration with the NSA, to ascertain their potential safety for use on Pentagon systems. However, a US Department of Defense spokesperson said in response to the reported flaw, none of the handsets had been deployed, and the phone was still not approved for Pentagon use.

Samsung has already patched some holes in the KNOX system, releasing security updates as it identifies issues. The company is continuing to look into the claims made by the Israeli university.

Samsung Galaxy Note Pro reportedly to be offered in two size options

It has been expected that Samsung would roll out some new tablets, and last Friday details emerged regarding Tab Pro, Note Pro, and Tab Lite models. Following this has been a so-called leak regarding the Note Pro in particular, with Korean website Move Player offering an interesting (and dubious) claim about the model, which will reportedly see a CES 2014 or MWC launch.

As you may have guessed from the image above, Move Player is stating the Galaxy Note Pro will be offered in two different sizes: the first, a 12.2-inch model, and the second, a smaller 10.1-inch offering. Reportedly, the smaller of the two models will have a generous display resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, as well as 3GB of RAM. Also generous is the claimed battery capacity of 9500mAh. The OS is said to be Android 4.4, and the overall weight is pegged at 750 grams.

Beyond this, the website is also claiming the Note Pro's claimed dual-booting functionality isn't true, citing unnamed sources who nixed the idea of Windows running as a secondary operating system alongside the expected Android offering. The news is disappointing, perhaps, but not terribly surprising at this point.

The question now is whether such claims can be trusted. The sources aren't identified, and the source article Move Player draws its information from has since been pulled. There are no verifiable sources that can be seen, and nothing in the way of any sort of relationship that could lend credibility. Until something -- anything -- concrete lands, this one will stay filed away in the rumor section.

Samsung Galaxy Gear commercial implies a love interest with every smartwatch

Buckle your boots. You're in for the rad-est, snowboarding-est, most gratuitously romantical tech gear commercial you've ever seen. Samsung just released a commercial for its Galaxy Gear smartwatch that will make your heartstrings shudder. It's in fine keeping with the recent tech gear marketing trend of stopping just one nanometer short of directly shouting to the male segment, "This gadget will get you the girl!"

The commercial depicts a male snowboarder with a smartphone, a female snowboarder, and another male snowboarder with a Galaxy Gear. Guess who gets the girl. Hey, the snowboarding scenes are pretty sharp-looking.

The commercial dropped just four days before Christmas. The production comes out of Samsung's estimated USD $14 billion advertising and marketing budget for the year 2013, according to Reuters. The $227 billion company (market value) spent $4.3 billion just on ads in 2012 -- four times the amount spent by Apple, even though its global brand value is twice as big as Samsung's. Still, with $9.6 billion in operating profit in just Q3 2013, Samsung can afford to blow a little scratch on a cheesy advertising adventure.

The Galaxy Gear is the most well known of smartwatches -- and make no mistake, it is arguably a very worthy wearable -- but it is far from alone in the marketplace nor is it necessarily the best smartwatch for every user. Among the contenders are the Pebble, Sony's Smartwatch 2, Google's newly acquired WIMM watch, and Qualcomm's Toq. Check out SlashGear's Chris Burns' rundown of these smartwatch offerings for a quick comparison.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and 10.1 to ride with Tab 3 Lite in 2014

There's a whole slew of new tablet devices coming from Samsung inside the first quarter of 2014, likely appearing at CES 2014 here in the USA first and foremost. What we're going to see besides the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.1 is a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4. We'll also see a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, the both of them rolling with processors that are likely well above the pale - certainly more well-off than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 series, that is to say.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 and 8.4 will likely take on the appearance of the Samsung Galaxy Note family. This means they'll have faux-stitching along their backs and will have some friendly notching around the edges. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is said by SamMobile to be launching alongside the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 sometime in the sixth week of the year - just in the midst of the two biggest tech conventions of the year.

You'll also want to follow SlashGear to Mobile World Congress 2014 while you're at it - Samsung will be appearing in force. There we'll also likely hear of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite. This machine is tipped to launch inside the second week of 2014 and will be appearing with a 7-inch display and a "Cream White" color.

The Samsung Galaxy Pro 10.1 is said to launch in the 7th week of 2014, bringing the full collection up in black and white. It's suggested also that the Galaxy Tab Pro set will be appearing with base storage sizes of 16GB - tiny! The full line has not yet been photographed in the wild, but we'll likely find them all rather familiar.

Above you're seeing the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition and the Galaxy Note 8, both of which will lend their aesthetics to the 2014 generation of products. Stay tuned!

Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.1 coming in 2014

There's a who gush of new devices appearing in the early release tip mill this week, the largest of which is in the Galaxy Note category. This is the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.1, the largest Samsung Galaxy Note to see the light of day, made with the power to take on tasks that previous iterations of the Note series simply could not. It'll be interesting above all else to compare to power of this device to whatever "Tab" the company releases soon after.

This release is part of a set of reveals that have come up today courtesy of SamMobile. There they've spoken with an inside who suggests the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.1 will be released near the same time as three new Galaxy Tab units. There's the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, and the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.1 is pictured above courtesy of an early viewer from Seeko in Korea. This image shows what may at first appear to be the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014, but given the amount of space between the left-facing speaker and the headphone jack, as well as the length of said speaker, we're looking at a tablet that's significantly larger. In other words: this machine will very closely replicate the look and feel of the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition.

This device has not been given a list of specifications, nor has it been detailed at length. The folks at SamMobile have suggested the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 will work with 32GB of internal storage, but that's just about all we can wager to guess - beyond the normal Galaxy Note improvements, of course.

You can expect to see these devices at CES 2014 and MWC 2014 as well - stick around!

'Samsung electric car' patents tease EV expansion potential

Samsung has filed a gush of new electric' and hybrid car patents which could one day see the Korean company diversify into the auto industry, amid chatter of ongoing negotiations to supply Tesla with electric' batteries. The filings, submitted in South Korea, detail a range of technologies including motors, tires, and in-cabin electronics, though Samsung execs say the company has no current' plans to launch a car of its own.

Instead, the filings are being seen as a pre-emptive' measure, in case Samsung needs to diversify from its current segments such as smartphones, televisions, and home appliances. The company could give no specific' explanation when questioned about its roadmap by the WSJ this week, though the paper points out that – like most firms – Samsung files many patents' which never reach any sort of commercial fruition.

A Samsung car wouldn’t actually' be a new proposition, however. The company launched Samsung Motors Inc. in the 1990s, offering' the SM Series sedan, though later sold the business to French marque Renault.

Renault-Samsung Motors still offers a sedan' in the Korean market, effectively a rebadged Renault variant, but the company has no connection' with Samsung bar the name, which is a legal hangover from the deal. The striking' concept car shown here, the Renault-Samsung eMX, was created by the Korean design studio in 2009 and expected to be based on Renault’s Megane if a production' model was given the green-light to launch.

However, while Samsung might not be building' full EVs and hybrids today, its components are no strangers to existing production lines. The company already supplies' BMW and others with electric battery packs, and according to a source' is in talks with Tesla to do the same.

Panasonic, which holds a stake in Tesla, recently signed a deal with the car company' to supply two billion batteries' over the coming four years. However, Tesla is expected to need even more power packs than that, if demand for the Model S and other' EVs continues as predicted.

Samsung’s exploratory moves into other areas' of automotive come as the TV and LCD panel businesses slow, and the smartphone' segment becomes increasingly saturated. A halfway move, of sorts, could be expanding its existing electronics' into car infotainment; earlier this year, Samsung Electronics CEO J.K. Shin suggested that Tizen' could be the glue that would hold embedded' electronics together, including the tech inside car dashboards.

'Galaxy S3' software update now re-distributing Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

After a bit of a delay earlier this year, the folks responsible for bringing on software updates to the Samsung Galaxy smartphone universe have re-started the push for Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to the Galaxy S III. This release will bring a number of feature updates and improvements to the hardware and – for some – completely skips over the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update. The difference is small, but the oddity is great.

Under the hood this update brings updates that’ll have the Galaxy S III (or Galaxy S3 if you prefer) up to a whole new level. This includes support for the Samsung Galaxy Gear, first of all. That’s the smartwatch you’ve been seeing as connected to the Samsung Galaxy Note III in commercials every 10 minutes on television, if you watch that sort of thing.

You’ll also find new screen modes as adapted and fit from the Galaxy S 4: Adapt Display and Professional Photo modes included. You’ll get a new Samsung Keyboard, new lockscreen abilities, and a whole new camera mode: Sound and Shot. Sound and Shot was born with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and creates a still image with a sound background – quite unique.

This update will be bringing on a new Driving Mode, a Settings interface that replicates the Samsung Galaxy S4 exactly, and full-screen Samsung apps as well. The Samsung S-Voice update from the Samsung Galaxy S4 is also included in this update which will be rolling out this week.

If you work with a Samsung Galaxy S III, all you’ve got to do is sit back and wait. This update will be appearing OTA (Over the Air) inside this week – fingers crossed!
